The Invasive Vine Task Force at Groundwork Hudson Valley is planning a second countywide SWARM, this time at Croton Point Park in Croton on Saturday, March 22. The park is an important birding area.
Their first SWARM, on the South County Trailway last fall, brought out 175 volunteers. The idea is to really make a concentrated attack on a single problem area at a time, to make a visible difference.
The Croton SWARM is set to run from 10 am to 3 pm. Come when you can, doesn’t have to be for the whole day.

10:15am Begin Cutting!
12:30pm Break for lunch (bring brown bag & water–we’ll provide hot drinks). Swap stories. Share vine cutting tips. List potential next “swarm” locations & dates. Equipment swap potentials.
1:30pm Resume Cutting (for those who stay/or those who just came)
3:00pm Wrap Up

Parking & Check-in:
Park in the main parking lot which is located after you enter the park and pass the park office. Once you park, it is a 10-minute walk to the Kitchawan Lodge-which will be the base for the day.
* All weather dependent. If it’s really cold or miserable, we’ll go for the rain date, Saturday, March 29th, same time and place. If it starts getting miserable when we’re out there, we’ll close up early. Please feel free to attend as much as you can. Some people will be coming in the morning, others may not make it until lunch and then cut in the afternoon.
Please bring your own lunch and water. Dress in layers, wear good shoes, gloves. Bring your own tools if you can (loppers, clippers, hand saws)–we will have some available for volunteers. We’ll provide hard hats and safety vests for those working along the parkway. We’ll also have hot drinks.
