Press release from Lou Hammond: The Rhode Island Spring Flower and Garden Show (www.flowershow.com) will fill the city of Providence with fragrant, colorful flora along with a few surprises, from Thursday, February 20 through Sunday, February 23 at the Rhode Island Convention Center. The 2014 show will combine America’s passion for gardening with its love for classic cars through the new “Vintage Garden” displays. Famous antique automobiles will serve as the centerpieces for these unique gardens, which will be created by some of the most talented landscape artists in the country. Attendees may see displays such as a 1950s period garden featuring a restored Belaire, or an Italian piazza that showcases a Ferrari. In its 21st year, The Rhode Island Flower Show annually serves as a sign that the New England winter is almost over, giving way to the spring planting season. Visitors will see demonstrations and hear lectures from some of the nation’s top landscape architects and gardening experts as well as view showcased garden displays and 250 larger-than-life garden marketplace vendors. Advanced Tickets ordered before February 12, 2014 are only are $17 for adults (a $2 savings off the at the door price of $19), $16 for seniors (65 + ID required) and students, $7 for children six to 12 years of age, and the event is free for children under six. An evening admission rate of $16 is available February 20-22 (5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.) Group tickets of 15 or more may be purchased for $13 per ticket.
