The New York Botanical Garden’s 22nd annual ‘Holiday Train Show’ opens this Saturday, November 16. Visit the Botanical Garden and experience an enchanted New York enlivened by model trains and replicas of New York landmarks, amid the glow of twinkling holiday lights in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. Over 20 large-scale model railway trains and trolleys traversing replicas of New York landmarks such as the original Pennsylvania Station and Yankee Stadium, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Radio City Music Hall, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Rockefeller Center–all crafted of natural materials like bark, twigs, stems, fruits, and seeds–comprise a magical spectacle to be enjoyed by all ages.
This year, programming includes ‘Holiday Adventures’ in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden, the popular ‘Bar Car Nights,’ and a Holiday Tree Lighting on November 16. Former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins will be reading his poems at the Garden on Saturday, November 23, and ‘Poetry for Every Season: Holiday Poetry Walk’ features fifteen of Collins’ poems displayed in the landscape and accompanied by a free cell phone audio tour.
