Much of the Hudson Valley is under a frost warning tonight. That means you need to take a few precautions with any tender annuals or vegetables you’ve got outside.
Bring in any houseplants that you’ve already put out.
Bring in any annuals (petunias, marigolds, geraniums, coleus etc.) that you’ve bought at garden centers the last couple of weekends. You just need to get them under cover—a garage or screened porch is fine. Tougher annuals like pansies and ageratum will be OK.
Cover tender plants and growing beds with sheets or pillowcases. By 8 am., it’s usually safe to remove them. Basil is particularly sensitive to frost.
