Got a note from John Mickel about a garden open house/fern sale he and Carol are hosting on Saturday.
“We decided not to be on the Garden Conservancy’s open days this year, but this is ending with as much work,” he says. “We have about 600 fern plants potted up, and it hasn’t made a dent in the garden. Couldn’t throw the extras in the compost.”

“Want ferns for your garden? Here’s your chance. A special garden open house and fern sale are being held at the home of Carol and John Mickel, 32 Farm Rd, Briarcliff Manor, NY (email firstname.lastname@example.org) on SATURDAY, JUNE 4, 10 am to 3 pm. Over 40 kinds of ferns will be available for purchase, from the low groundcover Himalayan maidenhair to the 4-foot high Dixie wood fern, several colored forms of Japanese painted fern to the eerie pale gray Ghost fern, youthful plants to mature specimens, evergreen to deciduous, common ones like ostrich ferns to rarities like the Japanese mountain fern. This is the most diverse assemblage of available ferns in the Northeast, so come and get them while they last.
