“2nd Annual Harvest Moon Festival
At the Garden Education Center of Greenwich
On Sunday, October 17th from noon to 3:00 pm, all are invited to celebrate autumn and GEC’s teaching vegetable garden at this popular family-friendly activity day, rain or shine. A Pumpkin Patch will offer children pumpkins for unique “natural” decorating. Additional entertainments include pony rides, face-painting and a Scavenger Hunt.
Celebrated children’s author Gina Ingoglia will be on hand at 2:30 pm for story-telling and book-signing as a gift to GEC by the Greenwich Tree Conservancy.
Ann Robertson, the admired floral artist from Dirt, will demonstrate chic styling for garden cuttings (containers provided!) Daffodil planting guided by Horticulture Director Lisa Beebe will showcase a terrific connection to this community property. Delicious healthy baked treats provided by GEC volunteers will be for sale.
Area gardeners are encouraged to submit homegrown veggies for the Local Vegetable Contest. Judging for child and adult categories include: biggest, most crooked, roundest, tallest, most unusual, etc. All vegetable entries will be displayed.
Last year’s portrait photography sittings provided by Samuel Owen Gallery were so popular that again professional photography will be available, for a discounted $35 per sitting (donated directly to GEC!)
Tickets purchased in advance are $25 per family or $35 at the door; tickets can be purchased online at www.gecgreenwich.org or by calling the GEC at 203-869-9242, Ext. 3.
