I was in Chicago for a few days last week. Such a pretty city this time of year.
Have you seen the new Millennium Park? It’s just wonderful.
The Frank Gehry-designed Jay Pritzker Pavilion.
Eastern redbuds, my new favorite tree. Native, too.
The contemporary Lurie Garden designed by the team of Gustafson Guthrie Nichol Ltd, Piet Oudolf and Robert Israel. Oudolf did the Battery Park gardens and helped on the new High Line park.
As you can see, not much was up. They were about a week to 10 days behind us this year. Lots of grape hyacinth.
And tulips. Apparently, Mayor Richard Daley is a nut for pretty flowers (should be a requirement for all mayors, right?).
There’s a dinosaur in my garden!
Back out on Michigan Avenue.
Such great flower boxes, on so many downtown blocks.
Chicago, my kind of town.
