The Native Plant Center at Westchester Community College will hold its 10th annual Wildflower and Native Plant Center sale on Saturday.
It’s the first of many in the area — scroll down for a list of the others we know about. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you know of any others, or just post a comment here with the details.
The Native Plant Center sale gets more popular every year, so don’t dawdle at home that morning or you’ll miss the best stuff. Native Plant Center members will be allowed in at 10:30 a.m., with the doors opening at 11 for everyone else. The sale, which is always a sellout, ends at 1 p.m.
This year, shoppers can choose from among 37 choice North American plant species and varieties selected for our region, along with limited quantities of rare natives. You’ll find a colorful mix of native trees, shrubs, flowering perennials, ferns and grasses. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to help you pick the right plants for your yard.
The sale will be held rain or shine on the campus of Westchester Community College at 75 Grasslands Road in Valhalla. Park in Lot 1 near the Administration Building.
The Native Plant Center is the first national affiliate of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas. For more information, visit nativeplantcenter.org or call 914-606-7870.
