I just got word that the Ardsley Garden Club is hosting a lecture on the Huntington Gardens at 1 pm tomorrow (Jan. 6) at St. Barnabas Church, Heatherdell and Revolutionary roads.

Speaker is Dorothy Pandaleon, member of Ardsley and Scarsdale Garden Clubs.

Donation: $3, cake and coffee.

Info: Elly, 914-693-2108

Founded in 1919 by railroad and real estate developer Henry Edwards Huntington, the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens were opened to the public in 1928.

Set on 120 acres, the botanical gardens feature more than 14,000 varieties of plants.

About the author
Katie Bill Cary grew up in Louisville, Ky. His gardening was limited to growing parsley and impatiens on the windowsill of Manhattan walkups until the mid-1990s when he bought a rundown old chicken farm on 8 acres in the Hudson Valley. Now he spends his weekends chasing deer, hacking away at invasive shrubs and vines and wondering why he doesn`t have more meadow and less lawn.
