I noticed my first Japanese beetle of the summer last weekend, chomping away on a lilac leaf. I don’t remember seeing these evil little things before July in previous summers.
Alas, her climbing pink New Dawn roses looked fantastic last weekend. They’re about to get hammered, so kiss them goodbye till fall, she says.
The beetles always go after my sweet potato vines.
