Garden Antiques at NY Botanical Garden

April

Along with the incredible show of tulips at the NY Botanical Garden this morning, I also took a spin through the annual Garden Antiques Show and Sale.

Some of the ornaments brought to the show by Fleur of Mount Kisco:

Here’s a link to an earlier post with full info on the show.

I was quite impressed with the high quality of items on view. No junk at all.

Don’t you love these papier-mache mushrooms from Fleur?

The three-day show runs through Sunday.

This table and “chairs” from Treillag, Bunny Williams’ shop in Manhattan, caught my eye.

As always, Barbara Israel of Katonah had particularly nice stuff in her booth.

Bill- Thanks for your informative postings and pictures.
We seem to live in similar garden worlds. I hope you’ll have a chance to visit and return to GardenLarge.com: Naturalistic Landscape Design and Home of Horticultural Design, Inc., Duncan Brine, and the Brine Garden.

Hi Duncan. Nice to hear from you—I feel as though I know you after those nice pieces in the Times and Hudson Valley mag. Your garden has been on my radar for a while and I’d love to visit sometime. Are you on the Open Days Program again this year? I didn’t realize you’re from Rye originally. That makes you “local” for us and fair game for a story, even though you’re outside the paper’s normal readership area.

Bill- Thanks for including me in your region;I feel included and have designed a number of landscapes and gardens in Westchester over the years. My business name is Horticultural Design,Inc.
Yes, on Saturday,August 2, from 2-6pm, the Brine Garden is part of the Garden Conservancy’s Open Days Program.
You can discover that information along with a lot else on http://www.gardenlarge.com.
In the fall, I’m doing a on-site seminar with The New England Wildflower Society and this Saturday, I’m speaking at a symposium, “Garden Inspiration”, at the Otesaga Resort in Cooperstown,NY.
Perhaps you’re in the mood for a scenic drive and a stay at a unique and scenic resort this Mother’s Day weekend. Some interesting garden talk would be a bonus.
    Look forward to meeting you-
    Duncan

About the author
Katie Bill Cary grew up in Louisville, Ky. His gardening was limited to growing parsley and impatiens on the windowsill of Manhattan walkups until the mid-1990s when he bought a rundown old chicken farm on 8 acres in the Hudson Valley. Now he spends his weekends chasing deer, hacking away at invasive shrubs and vines and wondering why he doesn`t have more meadow and less lawn.
