Starting Seeds Indoors

April
2

Have you started any seeds indoors yet? It’s a great way to get a jump on the outdoor gardening season.

I just planted a few basil seeds in a pot with a good southern exposure. I’ll add parsley as soon as I find the opened pack from last year.

I’m a big fan of Renee’s Garden catalog and Web site. She (Renee Shepherd) has lots of good information there.

Here’s a link to an article on “Starting Seeds Indoors.” And another on starting tomato seeds indoors and transplanting seedlings.

About the author
Katie Bill Cary grew up in Louisville, Ky. His gardening was limited to growing parsley and impatiens on the windowsill of Manhattan walkups until the mid-1990s when he bought a rundown old chicken farm on 8 acres in the Hudson Valley. Now he spends his weekends chasing deer, hacking away at invasive shrubs and vines and wondering why he doesn`t have more meadow and less lawn.
