Gossett Brothers Nursery

July
27

Looking for a good nursery in northern Westchester? You can’t go wrong with Gossett Brothers in South Salem.

I’m doing an ongoing series for the paper called At the Nursery that looks at area nurseries and what they specialize in. Today’s paper has an “article on Gossett Brothers”:http://www.thejournalnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007707270323.

Feel free to offer suggestions on other good nurseries.

Here are a couple of photos that our Stuart Bayer shot at the nursery this week.

Aura Larios, who lives in Brewster, helps nursery manager B.J. Plautz maintain all the plants in the nursery.

If you visit Gossett Brothers, be sure to check out Cottage Antiques, which sits just inside the front door of the nursery.

Do you know my friend and colleague Mary Shustack’s Just Browsing blog? She’s the queen of all things shopping at the paper and lohud.com. Here’s a “link”:http://justbrowsing.lohudblogs.com/2007/04/19/with-vintage-style/ to a post she wrote about Cottage Antiques.

About the author
Katie Bill Cary grew up in Louisville, Ky. His gardening was limited to growing parsley and impatiens on the windowsill of Manhattan walkups until the mid-1990s when he bought a rundown old chicken farm on 8 acres in the Hudson Valley. Now he spends his weekends chasing deer, hacking away at invasive shrubs and vines and wondering why he doesn`t have more meadow and less lawn.
