The Westchester garden tour that I “wrote about earlier this week”:http://gardening.lohudblogs.com/2007/06/28/garden-tour-set-for-july-14/ includes a stop at the demonstration gardens at Hartsbrook Preserve and Park in Hartsdale, the ones maintained by the master gardeners of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Westchester.
Down below all the exuberant sunny beds filled with vegetables and fruits and herbs there’s a sweet little shade garden that Sue Brennan and three others from the new class of master gardeners started last year.
I wanted to see how the garden was doing in its second year. Certainly worth a look-see.
Here’s white astilbe. Nothing lights up shade like white.
And a pinkish one.
Yellow evening primrose.
Everything has labels so it’s easy to pick up a few ideas.
And back in the sun on my way back to the car, I noticed this incredibly healthy butterfly weed.
